Nickel Based Alloys: Typical Properties

Nickel based alloys provide strong resistance to chemical corrosion while maintaining mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. Typical uses include nozzle diaphragms in jet engines, chemical processing and handling equipment, pulp and paper applications, and specialty pumps and valves.

Inconel® Nickel-Based Alloys

During the investment casting process, we may use Inconel® 600 and 625.

Inconel® 600, 2.4816 (72% Ni, 14-17% Cr, 6-10% Fe, 1% Mn, 0.5% Cu) offers excellent impact resistance, stability, and fatigue strength across a broad temperature range. Made with nickel, chromium, and iron, this alloy withstands aggressive environments and corrosive gases while retaining performance when exposed to chlorine and treated water.

Hastelloy® Nickel-Based Alloys

Hastelloy alloys are well suited for fabrication and welding. They provide excellent resistance to chemical attack and stress corrosion cracking. During investment casting, we may use Hastelloy® C-type nickel-chrome-molybdenum alloys for environments involving inorganic acids.

These materials can tolerate temperatures approaching 1,900°F (1038°C) while maintaining ductility.
