Industry Pioneer - Rapid Prototype Example

Rapid Prototyping Pioneer

Barron Industries was one of the first rapid prototyping companies to add rapid prototyping services in the early 1990s when the technology was first available. We continue to invest in rapid technology and software to support this important capability.

Rapid Prototyping Process

Rapid prototyping takes virtual designs from computer aided design (CAD) or animated modeling software and transforms them into patterns used for metal investment casting. Because a computer program transforms the math data directly into a prototype part, no tooling is involved.

The word “rapid” is relative. Contemporary methods of model construction can take several weeks, depending on the methods used and the complexity of the part. The rapid prototyping system typically produces models within a few hours/days, thus allowing customers to check and test parts and make the necessary changes before incurring any tooling costs for final production.
